Points and League Position
Teams shall be awarded 3 points for a win, 2 points for a draw, 1 point for a
loss and 0 points for a non-fulfilled fixture (see info document for more
details).
Tie on points between two teams
In case of equality of points between two teams, precedence shall be given to
the team with the best head to head record (not including goal difference). Or,
if this is equal, the overall goal difference will determine the winner. If there is
still a tie, the team scoring the most number of goals shall be the winner, and
if at this point there is still a tie, the winners will be decided by lot.
Tie on points between more than two teams
In case of equality of points between more than two teams, a table shall be
formed to calculate the higher-placed team from the results between
the relevant teams (excluding goal difference). If there is still a tie, precedence
shall be given to the team(s) with the greatest goal difference in the matches
between the relevant teams. If there is still a tie, precedence shall be given to
the team(s) having scored the higher or highest number of goals in the
matches between the relevant teams. If there is still a tie, precedence shall be
given to the team(s) with the greatest goal difference in all matches played. If
there is still a tie, precedence shall be given to the team(s) having scored the
higher or highest number of goals in all matches played. If there is still a tie
betweenmore than two teams, the decision shall bemade by lot.
Game Rules
Timing: 4 8 minutes quarters based on a running clock. 1 minute
break between quarters and 2 minutes for half time
Official Fina rules should be followed as closely as possible for game
play. Please visit:

30 sec shot clock – this should be used if available.
Ultimately, common sense should prevail when rules may not apply. As
well as sticking to the guidelines, teams must agree to compete ‘in the
spirit of the game’ – that is, try their utmost to play all fixtures and
thereby maintain a fair league. This means allowing for deviations from
the rules to allow for completion of fixtures; if, for example, pool time is
limited, shorter quarters may be played. Both captains must agree to
any changes.
Equipment
The home team is responsible for providing the match balls and the poolbased
equipment. This includes the goals, 2 and 5 m markers and timing
equipment. Both teams should also try to bring both blue and white hats.
Referees
The games should be refereed in the same way as your current friendly
matches – this is normally a local referee, coach or knowledgeable player.
The responsibility lies with the home team to make sure there is a referee in
place. We are hoping to compile a list of official referees for each region who
would be willing to help with the refereeing but this is not ready yet. We are
also looking to set up some referring courses for club representatives to help
improve the level of in-club refereeing.
The referee can report any team if they feel that their behaviour was
unacceptable, and we will then deal with the situation. We feel strongly that
the referees are going out of their way to help the game and any dissent
towards them is unacceptable.
